One of the most frequently asked questions is: How long does an LED lamp last? In short, that is at least 10 years.  Of course, you have heard that an LED lamp lasts much longer than a normal lamp. However, you would like to know exactly how long an LED lamp lasts. There are a number of things to look out for to determine the life of your lamp.

The lifespan of an LED lamp

The lifespan of an LED bulb differs per brand and type. Each lamp specifies how long it lasts. The maximum lifespan of an LED lamp is 50,000 burning hours. This is one of the main reasons why LED lighting is so popular. On average you see that the lamps have a lifespan of 15,000 to 20,000 hours. The exact lifespan according to the manufacturer is always indicated in the specifications. On average, a lamp that only comes on in the evening consumes 1460 burning hours. A normal lamp has a maximum lifespan of 2000 burning hours. This means that you have to replace the lamps after just over 1 year. With LED this is only necessary after about 10 years and with some lamps 15 years.\

Switch on and off

If lamps turn on and off regularly, this can have an effect on the service life. However, this is one of many factors. Most manufacturers do not test how long their lamps last if they turn on and off regularly. If you often switch the lamp on and off, this can have a negative influence on the life of the LED lamp. This is something to take into account when you purchase LED bulbs.
